The Business Development and Project Manager will be tasked with leveraging an existing network of clients to build the remediation/reclamation division of our client’s service business. Sourcing and winning bids, preparing accurate estimates and successfully managing awarded projects will be key to success in this critical role.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions Source bidding opportunities through relationship development, industry knowledge and resources. Work with Sales Manager to develop sales strategy and set quarterly goals and targets. Review and interpret proposals, plans and specifications to prepare estimates and the pricing of RFP/tender work. Calculate and define materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully complete awarded projects. Assess competitive factors and other trends to determine appropriate pricing levels. Manage multiple reclamation, remediation and earthworks projects in Western Canada in accordance with plans and specifications. Understanding of basic revenue, progress billing, profit/loss and cost-to-completion projections. Assess projects for design adequacy, constructability, sustainability, cost-effectiveness and environmental impacts.
Required Skills and Qualifications 5 + years of business development experience and an ability to build business through relationship management, industry knowledge and effective use of bidding resources. 5+ years direct experience in cost estimation, tendering and project management. Must have experience managing projects from $5,000 – $10,000,000. A post-secondary degree or diploma in construction/engineering would be an asset. The ability to maintain a customer focus that responds promptly to client needs. Ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, service providers, peers and employees both verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of cost-estimating software and job opportunity web platforms (MERX etc.).
