The Opportunity

Our Client, an industry leader with over 3 decades of history, has a full-time, temporary, 14-month Maternity Leave opportunity for a Finance Manager to lead their Accounting & Billings team.  If you are team-oriented, demonstrate strong leadership, has great interpersonal skills, is analytical and has exceptional problem-solving skills, we want to hear from you!

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Report directly to the company CFO, you will be relied upon to build the people capacity and support the achievement of short and long-term goals by fostering company values: teamwork, accountability, ingenuity, integrity, safety, and service.
  • Responsible for a team of five individuals including 3-designated Accountants, managing the month-end financial close process, preparation of internal and external financial statements, and accounting and tax analysis.
  • Ability  to exercise sound professional judgment in making decisions on complex financial issues as well as day-to-day operational activities, such as complex US tax/accounting analysis, foreign exchange hedging and monthly cash flow issues.
  • Oversee journal entries, GL account reconciliations, accounts payable and billing functions (+$1Billion annually), and is responsible for ensuring a strong control environment.
  • Provide relevant financial analysis to support business decisions and assist in the preparation of financial models and strategies.
  • Position will also involve working closely on projects within an evolving yet well established company, to change and develop company policies and procedures.

Required qualifications and skills: 

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent;
  • CPA designated  with a minimum of five-years of relevant work experience;
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (exposure to financial instruments and derivatives would be an asset) and accounting principles;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience developing and leading teams while maintaining high levels of enthusiasm, teamwork, and motivation in achieving department and business goals;
  • Exceptional analytical ability, good judgment and the ability to breakdown and understand complex information/transactions;
  • Results driven, with the ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines and pressure at times;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize as required;
  • SAP experience would be a definite asset;
  • Experience and/or courses related to the energy markets are desirable but not essential

Compensation and Benefits:

A base salary of to $90,000-100,000 depending on experience will be offered to the successful candidate.
