A fantastic opportunity awaits for a Senior Corporate Controller on Edmonton’s south side, with a well-respected company who has created an unbeatable culture, international recognition and a uniquely niche business model in the manufacturing industry.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with supporting schedules and analysis as required.
  • Oversee asset tracking.
  • Responsible to meet corporate accounting objectives.
  • Oversee international growth by developing internal tools specific to structure and compliance, including US Tax compliance and remittance.
  • Develop and manage an accounting team of five staff members, which will efficiently and effectively provide the required information for management and board of directors in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Handle all aspects of team management, supervision, development and performance
  • Collaborate with external accountants as it pertains to audit, and other accounting related activities.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare required budgets and forecasts.
  • Oversee inventory tracking, costs valuation, and standard costing analysis.
  • Manage and oversee analysis and calculation of burden rates once per year, and provide accounting details at Year End for SRED claims.
  • Spearhead the creation and improvement of accounting policies, principles, practices, procedures. Help to strategically guide financial decisions.
  • Engage and implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls and processes to continually improve department effectiveness, as approved by senior management.
  • Develop ongoing positive relationships with external contacts in areas of responsibility, representing the organization in a professional manner.
  • Assess and provide recommendations for refinement of the accounting information system.
  • Comply with all federal and provincial legislation, enforcing compliance measures to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
  • Other special projects as required and identified.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong Operational accounting with a focus in costing. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of post-designated hands on management experience at the senior level.
  • Preference given to candidates with exposure to international sales and manufacturing environment, who possess IFRS experience and compliance. Experience in full financial statement preparation as well as full costing and inventory valuation consolidated financial statements in accordance with G.A.A.P. for Private Companies is also required. Experience in IFRS standard reporting would be considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

  • A comprehensive benefits package and work life balance will be provided for the successful incumbent, with an accompanying salary between $110,000 and $130,000 to commence
