The Opportunity

One of Canada’s top distributors of heavy equipment, parts and accessories has a great opportunity available within their Edmonton Branch. The company is small enough to feel like a family run organization, but large enough to be a major player in the industry. You will be supported by empowering executives and will enjoy going to work every day. You will have the responsibility to mentor a team of energetic and motivated sales professionals. Focusing on continuing their development and deepening client relationships, you will work closely with each individual in the field. This is a role for a Sales Leader that does NOT like to sit behind a desk. The company will provide a compensation structure, coupled with a product line that represents breadth and industry leading quality, which will give you and your team confidence and pride. You will be stepping into a well evolved branch with established relationships, yet there is still opportunity for tremendous growth.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Set expectations and follow through of sales action plans for the sales team across Mining, Construction, and Lift.
  • Provide sales leadership and mentorship through reviewing sales activities and performance of the sales team.
  • Ongoing positive communication, feedback, support and coaching of sales people.
  • Provide tools and framework to ensure success for the sales team.
  • Plan and direct meetings and training for the sales team.
  • Cultivate effective business relationships with executives in the key accounts.
  • Regular travel to meet with potential and existing clients with sales people.
  • Assist with the development of sales presentations and proposals.
  • Review and evaluate lost sales and clients.
  • Generate and present sales reports.
  • Develop pricing, models, schedules and rates.
  • Formulate sales policies and procedures.
  • Help prepare budgets and provide regular updates to management.
  • Liaise with other company functions to ensure achievement of sales objectives.
  • Conduct market research as well as competitor and customer analysis.
  • Develop promotional ideas and materials.
  • Attend trade meetings and industry conventions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Min. 5 years of experience as a Sales Manager, selling Heavy Equipment to the Construction, Road Builders, and/or Mining Industries.
  • Min. 5 years of experience meeting or exceeding sales budgets as a Sales Manager, mentoring a team no less than 5 sales professionals, in the Heavy Equipment industry.
  • Proven knowledge of all aspects of planning and implementing sales strategy in the Heavy Equipment industry.
  • Well developed network in Heavy Equipment to the Construction, Road Builders, and/or Mining Industries, throughout Alberta.
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven sales skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer relationship management.
  • Proven to have hit 7 figure deals, “out of the park”.
  • Successful at hiring, on-boarding, building and mentoring energetic/motivated sales representatives, with a positive/driven attitude to serve their clients.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $90k/annum to $130k/annum.
  • Sales bonus that could double the income.
  • A comprehensive benefits package will be provided.
  • Truck allowance.
