Needed immediately! Security Specialist with CISSP or CISM certification for permanent opportunity.

The Opportunity

Our west end client has an immediate need for an IT Security Manager to oversee end to end Security and Compliance projects. This role will also be instrumental in the day to day activities relating to cyber security efforts to educate, mitigate and protect against IT security risks. The successful candidate will hold a related certification (CISSP, CISM), have previous experience in a security architect role and experience implementing controls in a cloud base environment.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Lead security projects facilitating cross functional business unit teams advising on security, risk and service management
  • Manage issue management tracking and resolution process
  • Coordinate audit-related tasks
  • Delivery training and awareness program
  • Performing regular business systems reviews and audits in order to identify potential security weaknesses and recommend improvements to mitigate/remove vulnerabilities & risks
  • Consultant on security related strategy, controls framework and roadmap
  • Create and track security and compliance control metrics and trends
  • Develop, maintain and manage enterprise-wide IT Governance program;
  • Leads governance & compliance meetings
  • Researching, reviewing, implementing and enforcing industry standard information and systems security policies

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of related university program
  • Minimum 10 years related experience and solid experience designing and implementing security controls
  • Thorough understanding of Information Security best practices and governance framework
  • Certification in CISSP, CISM, or SANS Security
  • Experience in designing security architecture
  • Cloud based infrastructure experience
  • Ability to understand control objectives and translate into technical requirements.
  • Strong, adaptable communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal) adept at distilling technical information into meaningful, targeted messages to business users
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrate leadership style that fosters a culture of security and compliance best practices and awareness
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure situations

Compensation and Benefits

  • Up to $100,000 depending on experience
