The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an Operations Manager (Chemical) to oversee their Slave Lake plant. This is a hands-on leadership position which will develop best practices, assist with strategic planning and make significant improvements to process in relatively short order.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Provide technical guidance and support for chemical engineering team, including design, planning and development.
  • Lead and supervise operations teams within the plant.
  • Safety and environmental leadership.
  • Develop and implement industry best practices, key management systems and operational KPI’s.
  • Liaise with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Identify, review and implement process improvement and cost reduction strategies.
  • Guidance to the overall chemical QA/QC program for testing of process units, intermediates and finished products.
  • Process troubleshooting, monitoring and control.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A professional designated Chemical Engineer (P. Eng).
  • 10+ years’ experience in a chemical continuous process operation.
  • Relevant experience in evaporation and natural brine processing an asset.
  • Ability to develop strong systems and procedures.
  • Well developed and proven leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with environmental aspects of industrial plant operation, treatment and disposal.
  • Ability to work in Slave Lake Monday to Friday.
