The Opportunity

Our Central Edmonton client is seeking a professional, experienced and PCP/CPM designated Payroll Specialist to join their exceptional Human resources team for the long term. Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Accurate payroll submissions within deadline
  • Process overtime and salary changes for payroll processing
  • Generate pay period payroll reports, reconciliations, adjustments
  • Prepare month-end and year-end payroll reconciliation
  • Develop and maintain payroll controls and procedures
  • Provide payroll related information timely ad accurately
  • Maintain knowledge, education, expertise of payroll software
  • Meet provincial and federal legislation deduction regulations
  • Create and maintain payroll procedure manual
  • Provides information to staff on all payroll related issues
  • Prepares yearly payroll processing schedules for cheque preparation and bank deposits
  • Prepares month-end and year-end reconciliations
  • Generates reports as required
  • Provides staff training in the use of the HRMS system for submission and approval of time sheets and entitlements
  • Manage time sheet documentation, entitlements, updates
  • Manage HRMS data and functionality; resolves minor HR system problems with software consultant
  • Maintain HRMS annual salary and position update information
  • Generates reports as required from the HRMS system
  • Prepares commencement, termination, and salary change documents for benefit carriers
  • Track overtime sheets and salary changes for payroll processing
  • Supports in the planning of all office accommodation and space issues
  • Manage surplus sales and general maintenance activities
  • Ensures the cost effective coordination of all ordering of general supplies, storage, maintenance and control
  • Liaises with general supply and service vendors
  • Ensures office equipment is maintained and repaired as required
  • Assists in the planning for all Board and committee meetings
  • Assists in the preparation, completion and distribution of all materials for Board and committee meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum completion of a 2-year diploma, following high school completion
  • Payroll certification, PCP and asset to have CPM
  • Certificate Asset: Commissioner for Oaths
  • Minimum three years to less than five years of experience
  • Advanced word processing skills
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills to create, maintain complex reports and calculations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Office administration experience
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Compensation and Benefits

  • 55-80K annual salary, plus comprehensive benefits plan to be discussed.
