Project Manager

Our downtown Edmonton Client has a two year contract available for an experienced Project Manager with strong operations background. This individual needs to have a proven track record in change management, ERP implementations, lean process improvement and optimization experience. Preference to PMP designations and experience in Finance, Government or Professional Services sectors.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Provide end to end project management for key strategic projects including planning and implementation of key deliverables.
  • Work with Project Sponsors to successfully deliver project objectives.
  • Coordinate meetings and prepare materials for projects as required.
  • Ensure appropriate project evaluation are executed including interim reporting, final reporting, recommendations and evaluation of outcomes from the planning phase.
  • Identify risk and ensure operational impacts are minimized.
  • Lead and manage progress against budget and forecasted schedule.
  • Responsible for producing status reports to management during a project.
  • Maintain effective and ongoing communication with project teams, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a project management Subject Matter Expert and coach on individual or departmental projects as required.
  • Support and participate in ongoing improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Contribute insights into strategic planning and business operations management reviews as required.

Skills & Attributes

  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of project management phases, techniques, tools and best practices.
  • Strong project management experience based on PMI BOK.
  • Proven working experience with continuous improvement methods (TQM, Six Sigma, Lean) and Change Management (Prosci or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a functioning Project Management Office (PMO) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles (including Agile), as well as COTS vendor contract management.
  • Awareness of the Engineering and Geosciences Professions Act and how it is administered considered an asset.
  • Awareness of self-regulating professions and regulatory environments considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office (Project, Visio, Excel, Outlook) to manage project schedules and resource allocation, develop flow charts, and decision matrices.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Advanced research and report writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills: both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to delegate, influence and obtain consensus when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas, project and process concepts, both orally and written, with ease and clarity.
  • Ability to follow through on proposals by effectively leading implementation.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to gain consensus and engage stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to effectively work independently and in a collaborative team setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, both in demeanour and appearance.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field with 4-7 years of relevant experience.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent would be considered an asset.
  • Previous project management experience working in an IT environment considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range of $80,000-$90,000
