Reporting to the Construction Director, the Senior Construction Engineer provides engineering support to construction management personnel to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and drawings. The Senior Construction Engineer will lead the Site Engineer team in terms of performance management, technical guidance and will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and managing junior engineers


  • Work with the other construction team members to ensure timelines and quality standards are met in all aspects of construction activities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Evaluation of efficiency on production sites to determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies used, making changes to work schedules or equipment when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, Provincial and local laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Act / Construction Safety Act regulations.
  • Assist with supervision of construction personal such as Foreman, Operators and Labourers.
  • Communicate with field supervision and have strong field presence to become included in all site activity.
  • Establish a thorough knowledge of plans and specifications, work schedules, production targets and procedures pertaining to changes, extra work, and claims and costing.
  • Provide direction and support to Construction and Engineer Team holding regular meetings to discuss needs, issues and successes, scheduling, staffing, and training.
  • Complete performance assessments to provide timely and actionable feedback for Construction Engineers.
  • Such other specific duties and responsibilities relating to the project as assigned by his/her supervisor.

  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
  • Good teamwork and leadership abilities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making abilities.
