Looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst for a 3-4 month contact with potential to extend.


The Opportunity


Our client in downtown Calgary is looking for a strong senior payroll candidate to join them for 3-4 months to assist with an implementation project! This individual will have coordinated payroll in a business as usual environment in addition to system implementation experience. This is a complex payroll with hourly and salaried employees as well as some union employees.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Approve weekly and biweekly reports for delivery to vendor for processing
  • Work with all stakeholders including the external payroll vendor to support all implementation requirements.
  • Single point of contact for internal employee queries
  • Support initial and ongoing training of employees and managers on time entry and approval processes
  • Work with vendor on new user requests
  • Third party reporting and enrollments
  • Collection and review of changes to payroll for accuracy and approval
  • Submit all off cycle payment requests for delayed or missed pay
  • Enroll, change and terminate employees on the system.
  • Billing of benefit and pension providers
  • Support accounting year end activities
  • Correction of any issues with vacation and flex time tracking
  • Work with payroll vendor to manage internal and external audit requests

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • PCP is mandatory and a CPM is an asset
  • Minimum 8 years’ payroll experience in both union and non-union environments
  • Change vendor experience and/or System implementation experience is mandatory
  • Must display initiative, teamwork and independent thinking;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skill with an ability to be technically competent in job cost accounting and be able to perform cost analysis; and
  • Must be thorough, detail orientated, highly organized and able to deal with stress constructively
