Shared Financial Services Lead

Executrade is happy to support our large Client who has their Head Office based in Edmonton identify a strong addition to lead their Shared Financial Services Department. The incumbent will need to bring an exceptional track record in a ‘shared services environment’ and preferably from within a publicly traded organization. This individual will effectively manage, streamline, and optimize processes across various lines of services from within the global corporate umbrella. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of company-wide banking, treasury and corporate credit card program.
  • Oversee and administer the expense travel & entertainment program.
  • Generate and distribute monthly journal entries.
  • Monitor actual employee expenses against budget and analyze any overages on a quarterly basis.
  • Oversee and administer the corporate credit card program and lead go forward strategy.
  • Monitor transactions on the Corporate cards are in accordance with the current policy.
  • Reconciliation of Corporate card payments to credit card expenses processed in for each business unit to ensure correct accrual accounting.
  • Oversight of company-wide AP processing.
  • Continual support of Company-wide strategic projects including:
    • Continued automation of AP processes including supporting initiative towards paperless filing and documentation for the AP department.
    • Drive efficiencies in treasury department through continued move towards electronic payments and automation.
    • Review and summarize monthly AP payments runs.
    • Create and foster strategic relationships with the Supply Chain team.
  • Consolidated Banking & Treasury responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure cash funding requirements are met including initiating wires.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with banks and manage all required documentation and communication involved.
  • Forecast and summarize weekly cash balances to the Executive providing comprehensive analysis to identify continuous improvements to our processes and strategic uses of cash.
  • Quarterly reconciliation and payment schedule of inter-company payments.
  • Ensure timelines for month-end, year-end and monthly payment runs are met.
  • Develop, implement and reviewing Accounts Payable processes; ensure compliance with internal control policies.
  • Company-wide Insurance Program:
  • Assist with the insurance program administration and annual renewal application.
  • Coordinate all insurance certificate distribution and requests with external insurance broker.
  • Facilitate and manager Special Projects:
  • Lead ACH/EFT implementation including coordination with the designated Operation Systems team.
  • Lead company-wide accounts payable (AP) strategy including:
    • AP department special projects. Specifically working with the Supply Chain department to meet strategic Supply Chain goals and improvement points.
    • On-going consolidation of AP processing to the Corporate head office location.
    • Vendor payment terms update project.


Qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
  • 3 years minimum of experience in a senior accounting or managerial role.
  • Solid knowledge of a public company treasury department.
  • Experience with consolidated AP team management.
  • Team/project management experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other related software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, project management skills.
  • Ability to think logically and complete work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • 80K base plus benefits package.
