Our Engineering client is seeking a Transportation Engineer for their Transportation Planning Team in Edmonton!

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Prepare functional designs, plans and concepts using highway/roadway engineering software in support of a wide range of transportation planning studies
  • Lead in the identification, development and evaluation of alternative solutions
  • Support the transportation planning/engineering component of specific projects
  • Prepare right-of-way acquisition and general structural arrangement drawings
  • Prepare exhibits for presentation to clients, stakeholders and public viewing
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates for roadway projects
  • Liaise with internal experts in related disciplines to obtain input relevant to the geometric design; e.g. bridge planning, traffic engineering
  • Write technical reports to document the geometric design outcomes; including, identification of relevant planning and design criteria
  • Participate at public meetings as a geometric expert
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Degree required
  • Ideally 10+ years of direct experience
  • Licensed and in good standing with Professional Engineers of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Expert knowledge using Inroads and Micro Station software; and sound knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD software
  • Experience and knowledge of functional planning, concepts and principles for the provinces and major cities
  • Fully conversant with Alberta Transportation’s Highway Geometric Design Guide (HGDG) and the Transportation Association of Canada’s Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads
  • Strong organizational skills to balance the delivery of multiple projects with ambitious timelines while also performing as a key resource for various needs and issues that may arise
