The Opportunity

If you like to be apart of a well-established, multidisciplinary, dynamic team that is rapidly expanding in Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Then I may have the perfect position for you! Our client is seeking a Transportation Planner for their Saskatoon operations; the Transportation planner will be responsible for all transportation planning and traffic analysis.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Complete traffic forecasts and multi-mode transportation.
  • Prepare analysis and interpretation of land use and conceptual development plans.
  • Responsible for traffic and transit studies, transportation master plans, active transportation studies.
  • Coordinate traffic operations and traffic engineering.
  • Administer infrastructure needs assessments, parking analysis and travel demand analysis.
  • Conduct and provide transportation planning studies, including; land-use planning needs assessment, data collection, modelling, etc.
  • Create reports, proposals, memorandums and literature reviews as required.
  • Assist in the development of alternatives and recommended solutions of traffic operations.
  • Deliver qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing and future conditions (multi-mode).
  • Maintain strong working relationship with all stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge with traffic operations and traffic analysis, transportation planning and/or Road Safety is required.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering and/or in Land Use Planning.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience working on traffic engineering/transportation planning projects of various size and complexity.
  • Experience with the City of Saskatoon transportation planning process. General knowledge of transportation planning and engineering standards with the City of Saskatoon, City of Regina and Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure will be considered an asset.
  • Solid experience with Bus Rapid Transit projects would be a strong asset.
  • Registered and in good standing with Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
  • Strong knowledge of Synchro, SimTraffic and HCS is required.
  • Working knowledge of other transportation software, including: Vissim, Paramics, Aimsun, Visum, AutoCAD, and/or Micro Station, ArcGIS is considered an asset.
