The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Vice President, Construction, based in their Edmonton office, who will provide leadership to their national construction operations. Experience with mega projects will set you apart from other candidates.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Provide leadership to total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with budget and schedule.
  • Ensuring quality control, safety standards and contract specifications are adhered to.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to create efficiencies and improve corporate performance.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, owners, superintendents, sub-contractors and other project stakeholders regarding safety, project progress, scheduling, change orders and other issues.
  • Track project costs against periodic targets, pre-set within the project budget, to ensure financial control of each phase of the job.
  • Work closely with Project Managers on forecasting and building realistic schedules and budgeting time required to meet deadlines.
  • Drive operational change in the field (across Canada).
  • Lead client negotiations.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 15 + years’ experience and proven track record in construction operations and project management within the construction industry.
  • Expert knowledge of Project Management and HSE functions.
  • Experience with successful change management implementation and well versed in relevant OH&S and environmental regulations.
  • Proven ability to create efficiencies and troubleshoot.
  • Experience running mega-projects in construction industry.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Must be available for travel.
