Director of Finance – Strategic Leadership


The Opportunity

Executrade is pleased to present an excellent opportunity for a Director of Finance to join a facility located in Calgary. Reporting into the President, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the professional leadership and strategic management for the key functions of Finance and Information Technology. We are looking for a forward-thinking and engaging leader that has experience influencing employees and Senior Management to create synergy within the various business units to optimize performance.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
  • Form a close working relationship with the Senior Leadership Team and the various business units and locations.
  • Perform regular financial analysis and financial reporting.
  • Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments.
  • Establish targets and manage all accounting and finance employees including management, accountants and payroll administrators.
  • Supervise all audit and internal control processes.
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance.
  • Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
  • Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
  • Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management.
  • A strong technical accounting background and previous experience managing payroll.
  • Experience working in a plant environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software. (Avionté payroll software and Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • An analytical mind with good organizational skills.
  • Information Technology experience an asset but not required.
  • Outstanding leadership skills
