Majority of Alberta Workers Would Take Pay Cut for More Opportunity

The vast majority of the Alberta labour force, 73%, would accept a reduction in pay for a new job opportunity that met benefits, career progression and company reputation expectations, according to a report from the Hays Canada.

The report said: 42% are willing to take a 20% reduction in base salary for an opportunity to potentially earn more through performance-based bonuses; 42% rank “place within the organization’s hierarchy” as more important than job title; health dental is the most important benefit for Albertans; 67% are in mid to senior level management positions, only 8% aspire to C-suite; and almost 50% are likely to highly likely to leave their current role.

According to the report, What People Want 2013, 71% of Canadians would accept a reduction in pay for a new job opportunity that met benefits, career progression and company reputation expectations.
