The Opportunity

Our Nisku based client is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics for their Nisku, Red Deer, Grand Prairie, and Prince George locations. The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will specialise in repairing a wide range of construction equipment; specifically, Cats, Volvo and Komatsu equipment.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Inspect, repair and adjust Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu and other heavy off-road equipment.
  • Install and align engines and machinery.
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment and electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
  • Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives.
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
  • Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Accurate completion of work orders and time cards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensed Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic. Completion of off road Journeyman Program (third year).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic is required.
  • Previous Cat, Komatsu or Volvo experience is required.
  • Strong mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical; including schematics and diagnostics.
  • Can effectively work in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
  • Must have a valid/ clean class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work overtime if required.
