Job Purpose:

A key member of the Engineering and Service team, the Field Engineer provides an extension of the engineering services to distributors and their end users.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the liaison between the service team, the distributorship, and the end user, to disseminate information related to new product offerings, returns, and complicated customer requests.
  • Through an application engineering effort, able to understand customer applications and develop/provide fluid handling solutions to specific customer needs and specifications.
  • Provide technical support and training to the distributors and end users in order to facilitate the growth of sales of targeted product initiatives, market segments, and key customers.
  • Coordinate all that is necessary to obtain market acceptance and adoption of products through an understanding of customer applications, field experience, and product knowledge.
  • Develop and provide fluid handling solutions to specific customer needs and specifications for products.
  • Offer a positive, helpful, and confident attitude when dealing with internal associates and customers in person, on the phone, and/or via email.
  • Answer customer questions about products, availability, product uses, and services.
  • Report non-conformances, errors, and omissions to streamline business processes.
  • Use the business system to process quotes, orders, invoices, factory orders, cancellations, and expedites.
  • Use online catalogue and other reference materials to assist customers in understanding technical aspects of products. This may include customer training and education.
  • Assist in training customers and associates on various products and applications. This could include the preparation and execution of presentations and/or seminars.
  • Support regional and corporate-sponsored training events and tradeshows.
  • Identify the changing application needs for new products and existing products while providing feedback to the appropriate factory personnel on improvements to products or services.


  • Related Engineering Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Related Technical Diploma combined with strong experience with be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in providing Engineering solutions to customer as it relates to analytical and process instrumentation.
  • Skilled in interpreting and understanding customer applications in order to develop P&ID and fluid schematics.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects using problem solving methods to make sound engineering decisions.
  • Able to identify and assess new opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Strong written and verbal communication required.
  • Weekly travel outside the Edmonton area and monthly overnight travel would be required in the role.
