3 month contract for a Human Resources Generalist/Advisor

The Opportunity

Our client in DT Calgary is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist/Advisor for a 3 month contract! This role has potential to extend.The HR Advisor will focus on day-to-day generalist activities. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will support client group needs by assisting with HR transactions, systems and processes.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Support HR activities such as hiring, onboarding, employee life cycle adjustments and payroll
  • Prepare materials, tools and documentation needed to support HR programs
  • Prepare job descriptions and job ads; post jobs
  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment; schedule interviews and coordinate new hire paperwork
  • Assist in coordinating new employee orientation programs
  • Prepare new employee information packages
  • Coordinate with internal payroll resource to answer employee questions
  • Provide backup payroll support
  • Compile and assist in the analysis of human resource data and metrics to support HR programs
  • Provide assistance to employees regarding benefits, policies, programs, and procedures
  • Provide operational support including processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copies, and arranging meetings
  • Assist with responding to inquiries regarding human resource programs
  • Assist with coaching and managing employee relations items
  • Maintain confidentiality of HR information
  • Assist with special assignments and projects
  • Create and manage regular and ad hoc reports and assignments

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Intermediate level of Human Resources experience (ie. 5-10 years)
  • Diploma or certificate in business administration, human resources or similar
  • (Certified Human Resources Professional) CHRP designation preferred
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the role human resources plays within a business
  • Adaptability and flexibility to prioritize tasks from various members of the team
  • Initiative to identify process improvements and desire to improve delivery of human resources services
