Assistant Production Supervisor


Organized? Willing to lead by example? A hands-on supervisor is needed to oversee production at a lumber processing operation in the B.C. lower mainland.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Human Resources – Scheduling production staff for staggered shifts. Allocating production resources needed to achieve production plan.
  • Scheduling hours for two shifts of workers, ensuring adequate training is given.
  • Training and Performance reviews, disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Responsible for product quality and workplace standards.
  • Manage workflow, communications, responsible for production planning and output.
  • Maintain safety and environmental standards and reporting.
  • Plant inspections and maintenance of equipment and inventory.
  • Ordering supplies and inventory accurately to reduce costs and downtime

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Min. of 2-3 years of related experience in a production supervision capacity, preferably in lumber or chemical production plant in a unionized environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge an asset – the role will require oversight of maintenance schedules, troubleshooting of equipment and assisting millwrights when needed.
  • It is expected that this supervisor will be on the plant floor throughout the day.
  • Understanding of environmental and safety standards.
  • Strong communications skills both written and oral, advanced coaching and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite of products with an emphasis on Excel.
