The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the President the new Controller will endeavor to become a strategic partner at the senior leadership level, amongst the board of director and will be a respected mentor across all three major Canadian branches. The organization is known to be dynamic, long standing, pioneering and boasts great tenure amongst it’s staff and builders, due to the strong client, customer and internal trust and relationships built over the years.  An exciting opportunity to leverage your ability to streamline, implement lean initiatives and lead an accounting team of four.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Oversee all financial related practices, trends, ERP integrations and implementations.
  • Streamline and document regulatory activities while managing all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, G/L and revenue recognition.
  • Guide and direct financial activities of the company in a manner which protects assets, meets reporting requirements in a timely and effectively means. Also oversee and organize all external audit needs.
  • Completion of month-end and year-end close process.
  • Comply with all applicable Federal, Provincial and local laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for procedural adherence of all records, information and computer systems used to document the financial transactions and statistical requirements of the company.
  • Maintain company insurance policies liaising with broker-ongoingly.
  • Develop, improve, issue and present timely monthly financial reports for Senior Management.
  • Ensure all finance/accounting employees are effectively mentored and supervised ensuing their development and success as a cohesive and effective team, while ensuring their cooperation with the other support teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting/Finance, along with a CPA Designation.
  • 10 years of financial accounting experience.
  • Strong Communication skills with operations, board of directors and executives.
  • Work in a very independent manner.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • A high proficiency in learning new software and systems is required to take advantage of all available tools.
  • Some travel may be required to other branches and conferences.

Compensation and Benefits

  • A base salary of 95k-120K along with a comprehensive benefits package will be provided.
