The Opportunity

Our client, a leading industrial service and manufacturing organization has an exciting career opportunity for a Financial Analyst. Based in Edmonton’s south end office, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for handling all financial information, budgets and forecasts reporting directly to the VP of Finance.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Prepares and assists in presentation of periodic financial and operational reports, financial “what if” scenarios, strategic plans/initiatives, cash flow projections and ad hoc reports to senior management and board of directors.
  • Establishes KPIs and creates reporting to measure progress and drive transparency around operational improvement initiatives.
  • Prepares and reports/presents on monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Prepares financial comparisons and explanations of actual and budget/forecast variances.
  • Financial analysis of internal financial information, capital asset purchases.
  • Assistance of risk management projects including preparing statement of values for annual insurance renewal, working on insurance claims, review of contracts.
  • Research of complex accounting issues for impact on IFRS and external financial reporting.
  • Preparation of annual tax return and corporate tax provision.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA) with 2-5 to years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in public practice, manufacturing and or the oil and gas sector preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills, and experience working within various ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent communication and people skills.
  • Experience with various ERP systems is a definite asset.
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels across the company.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
