Fantastic Financial Analyst Opportunity for an individual with Oil and Gas experience!

The Opportunity

Our client in downtown Calgary is looking for a Financial analyst with strong financial modeling and oil and gas experience to join their team. This role will be reporting Directly to the CFO and CEO.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Building financial models using historical data and providing forecasts based on various industry-related operating metrics.
  • Maintaining the corporate forecast Excel model for the company.
  • Using Excel to model various financial and operational scenarios in a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Maintaining the company’s ARO Model.
  • Assisting with drafting and maintenance of corporate documents.
  • Assisting the management team with annual and periodic budgeting and planning process.
  • Assisting the operations team with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Recommending and Implementing process for improvements to budget and prepare forecasts for the company.
  • Identifying the key financial and non-financial risks, and recommend actions for the mitigation of those risks.
  • Applying appropriate sensitivity and scenario analysis to support investment actions.
  • Responsible for financial planning and analysis including management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, facilitating and challenging assumptions, and key business drivers.
  • Responsible for designing financial models, scenarios and sensitivities for complex projects with a strong understanding of key performance indicators, volumetric data, and their relationship with industry and market trends.
  • Develop business relationships and foster two-way communication with internal stakeholders, Operations, and Corporate Reporting groups.
  • Other special projects as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business or Commerce or related field.
  • 2+ years of oil and gas experience is a must.
  • Strong experience in financial modeling is a must.
  • Advanced Excel skills is a must.
  • Experience in Acumap, Geoscout and Mosaic would be an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with top-level executives (internal and external).
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively follow-through on tasks in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to apply best practices for effective communication and problem-solving.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is between $80,000 and $110,000 a year.
  • 4 weeks vacation with benefits.
