Are you a Fleet Safety Manager with extensive DOT experience who is looking for a challenge?

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a strong Fleet Safety Manager for their Edmonton-based operations! An ideal individual will possess exceptional safety experience, problem solving abilities, and outstanding leadership skills.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Maintain safety training requirements for DOT policies.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Implement and execute vehicle accident management.
  • Oversee any accident investigations and incidents, while providing guidance to supervisory staff.
  • Complete cause analysis and subsequent description on all accidents.
  • Provide leadership and owners with an immediate update on serious accidents and incidents.
  • Conduct site and roadside audits as required.
  • Deliver monthly hours of service audit information to Alberta Carrier Services.
  • Provide leadership in driver hiring standards and monitor the standards through audits and evaluations.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate training for drivers as necessary.
  • Operate in full accordance with the Alberta Carrier Services.
  • Ensure CSA scores and associated BASIC information is accurate; develop an action plan or recommendation based on data, trends, or inaccuracies.
  • Support management with implementation of Electronic log program (ELD).
  • Maintain valid and appropriate permits for fleet.
  • Manage fuel tax applications.
  • Monitor hours of service logs to ensure regulations are being adhered to.
  • Assist technical issues with fleet.
  • Oversee fleet compliance programs.
  • Maintain file compliance with regulatory bodies and company policies.
  • Manage compliance with vehicle maintenance schedules, records and files.
  • Investigate settlement irregularities and have them corrected when necessary.
  • Maintain effective internal working relationships and communications with other company departments and personnel.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with DOT and/or Alberta Carrier Services regulations and safety administration in construction industry is required.
  • 2+ years of Management; specifically Project Management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) required.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Behavior based safety experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of presentation skills.
  • Solid customer service attitude and leadership.
  • Excellent time management, decision making, planning and organizing skills
