Human Resources Manager- A Senior Level Generalist Role

The Opportunity

Our client, a logistics company, is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join their team. This position offers a lot of autonomy, while being a part of a larger organization. This organization has been around for over a decade, so the position offers stability. This position offers a lot of variety and would require a lot of interaction with a variety of departments. The Human Resources Manager would be responsible for managing a team of five within the Human Resources department. The areas that this position would cover include recruitment and selection, best practices for management, labour relations, compensation, benefits and payroll administration, and training and development.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Develop recruitment and retention strategies, along with department leaders
  • Manage recruitment process, both internally and externally
  • Ensure the consistent administration of collective bargaining agreements
  • Work with all levels of employees to resolve personal issues
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify type of training required and best way to implement training
  • Work with third party claims management specialist to minimize lost time, claim costs and reduce premiums
  • Implement succession plan strategies
  • Manage the a full compensation program
  • Develop job descriptions
  • Prepare reports which display turnover, absenteeism, and other related reports
  • Manage orientation programs
  • Ensure all files are kept up to date and confidential
  • Responsible for updating company policies and procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in HR Management and/or a CHRP designation
  • 2 to 5 years in an HR related role, preferably as an HR Manager
  • Strong understanding of HR concepts and government legislation
  • Impeccable interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must show initiative for work and be able to work independently
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills, including multitasking
