The Opportunity

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Perform portions of full-cycle accounting which includes:
  • Maintain overall responsibility for AP and AR, including transactional processing.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for employee expense report processing.
  • Maintain purchase order procedures, controls and review.
  • Customer and vendor account analysis and reporting.
  • Complete accounts payable EFT/Cheque processing.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and submit monthly GST returns to CRA.
  • Complete bank reconciliations.
  • Payroll processing, benefits and source deductions support.
  • Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries such as, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed asset amortization, and inventory adjustments.
  • Assist the Senior Accountant with project reporting and revenue recognition.
  • Assist in preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Prepare all year end working papers for external accounting company to complete financial reports for fiscal year end.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong ASPE (Canadian GAAP) knowledge and financial statement disclosure.
  • Require advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database skills.
  • Strong math skills with sound financial acumen and analytical agility.
  • Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, results driven, prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to re-prioritize daily.
  • Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
