Senior IT Operations & Compliance Analyst
The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Information Security, this person will play a key part in IT audit and risk assessments, compliance, processes and standards, and IT project management. This role will have a dotted reporting line to the IT PMO Director in Toronto. This role will technically sit in the IT PMO group. The successful applicant will have a relatively small portion of their role assisting in and providing oversight for IT projects.
Our client is a large and reputable law firm in downtown Calgary, AB. They have a medium-sized tech group (45-50), and this position is a new role. Their PMO is being launched soon, and they want to have this position join and sit in this group. There are two project managers and two senior security analysts already dedicated. Offices are in Calgary, Toronto, and they are building their Vancouver office.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • The vast majority of your role will sit within the IT operations and compliance management requirement:
  • Conduct daily audits of security, risk, compliance, control effectiveness, and ensuring change management is effective
  • Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures for documentation, processes, and compliance
  • Perform security Threat and Risk Assessment (TRA) for new and existing projects
  • Provide regular metrics and reports on said responsibilities
  • Oversee IT business continuity and disaster recovery operations
  • The rest of your role will be involved with the IT PMO group to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards for project management within the IT department
  • Manage requirements, scope, schedule, deliverable, and other project management duties
  • Work with IT Security, Infrastructure, and Network teams to plan and execute projects
  • Coordinate project implementation, integration, user acceptance, and testing

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security or related discipline
  • Minimum five years of work experience in IT audit and compliance including:
  • Performing IT audit and internal controls review activities
  • Using IT control frameworks and standards such as ITIL, ISO 27001/2, and CobiT
  • Perform risk assessment and provide formal recommendations on new technologies
  • Minimum three years of experience in IT project management and CBAP/PMP certification or five years of experience without certification
  • Minimum five years of general IT Infrastructure and Network Security experience
  • Possess or in the process of obtaining professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP or other relevant designations
