The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician for their Edmonton or Grande Prairie operations. The Lead Field Service Technician will be responsible for leading all field service activity. This position will be 70% in field and 30% in office, while in the office the Lead Field Service Technician will create and implement a training program, while working along side human resources to create a training policy and procedure handbook.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Responsible for leading all field service.
  • Train Field Service Technicians.
  • May be required to assist workers to alleviate work overload situations.
  • Direct well site supervisor and rig crew and provide technical expertise.
  • Create accurate field service and rental tickets.
  • Plan work flow and select equipment and personnel.
  • Obtains and distributes supplies, materials, and equipment, such as: components and parts used for work, assembly, test and inspection specifications and test equipment, fixtures, and hand tools.
  • Interpret and complete schematic drawings, procedure changes, and work orders for workers.
  • Pre-check all equipment on the well site before installation to insure all equipment is correct and all accessories are on location ready to install.
  • Install, remove, repair and service customer equipment on the well site.
  • Complete valve lubrication, valve repair, wellhead improvements with the ability to run high pressure lubricator (PBMO) to set various size back pressure valves and two-way check.
  • Run the control line if needed.
  • Reports substandard equipment performance to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • Create Job Safety Analysis reports on job site.
  • Assists workers in resolving technical problems.
  • Confers with technical personnel and managers/supervisors to report and resolve assembly and testing problems and reports unresolved problems.
  • Understand all Customer Contractual Requirements.
  • Creates/Modifies Sales Orders in MFG.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Valve’s and Well Head’s is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate high pressure torque wrenches, hammer wrench, jib cranes, overhead cranes, forklift required.
  • Ability to do rigging work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • 12-hour days and may be required to work some weekends.
  • Company truck will be provided, as there will be travel across Alberta.
