The Opportunity

As the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for providing Operational leadership and expertise in the accounting and financial services arena as an integral member of our Client’s leadership team. Our Client who is a part of the Oil and Gas Sector, based in the Lower Mainland is excited to welcome this new role to their expanding Operation.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Lead and mentor members of the Accounting team.
  • Oversee the accounting functions, including strategic financial decisions and accounting activities, month end processes, financial and management reporting and cash management.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial and operational analyses to the executive team.
  • Collaborate with and support executive team to ensure corporate KPI’s and goals are achieved.
  • Review and maintain effective business and accounting processes/procedure to support the accounting functions.
  • Review, improve and streamline internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations and filing requirements.
  • Support and assist in the documentation of processes within the accounting department and across the organization.
  • Plan, prioritize and manage the work and training of employees.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation, CPA.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior operations accounting role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business acumen.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Effective and comfortable working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong sense of work ethic and accountability.
  • Highly professional and diplomatic written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ERP Systems experience preferred.
