Payroll Supervisor

We have an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Designated Payroll Professional who wants to join a growing and innovative organization, overseeing a small and agile team. Reporting to the CFO, the Payroll Supervisor will coordinate the full cycle payroll and reporting on a timely basis adhering to company policies and procedures as well as federal and provincial legislation and ensuring all deadlines are met within the established timeframes. and
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Administer bi-weekly hourly & salaried payroll.
  • Initiate process improvements and quality reviews streamline efficiencies.
  • Manage and oversee full cycle payroll accounting which includes remittance reporting, quarterly & year-end reconciliations, accruals, monthly GL reconciliations and creating & posting of journal entries relating to payroll and benefits.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries by researching and resolving payroll and benefit related issues.
  • Build relationships with various locations/branches to ensure timely and accurate payroll and benefit reporting is captured.
  • Support branch processes and respond to ongoing inquiries from branch locations.
  • Prepare various pay period, monthly, quarterly and annual reports regarding safety hours, turnover statistics and taxable benefits.
  • Manage all WCB claims and insurable earnings. Oversee Leave & Attendance, T-4’s, ROE’s Statistics Canada, etc.
  • Prepare all remittances and documentation relating to payroll deductions, CCRA, Garnishments, Benefits, Group RRSP plans, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with Provincial and Federal employment law and identify regulations affecting the payroll function.
  • Manage relations with outside vendors including Great West Life and Organizational Health Incorporated.
  • Maintain and develop employee benefits programs.
  • Manage all short term and long-term disability cases from cradle to grave.
  • Administration and maintenance of employee files and maintenance of Payroll/HRIS data base ensuring files are complete and system testing is done on all upgrades and /or changes.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification necessary.
  • Completion of Certified Payroll Manager Designation an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Admin or Human Resources preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible payroll administration and leadership/mentorship experience within a fast paced, and complex payroll environment.

  • A comprehensive benefits package and a salary of 75-90K annually.
