The Opportunity

Our client in Edmonton is seeking someone who is highly motivated, independent, well-organized and energetic to join our organization as a Pension Assistant Manager. As the Pension Assistant Manager, you will supervise the day to day operations of the Pension department and coordinate the workload of the pension analyst team (3-4 analysts). You will work with the Pension Manager in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance the overall quality of service being provided to clients of various defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Review eligibility and benefit calculations and ensure they are prepared within established company service standards.
  • Assist in modifying procedures, forms and calculations to comply with amendments to pension plans.
  • Determine eligibility and prepare benefit calculations within established company service standards.
  • Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries from members.
  • Prepare and review responses for all pension related requests.
  • Reconcile monthly and interim payments to pensioners and beneficiaries.
  • Prepare inquiry and application status reports and assist with the preparation of annual member and termination statements in accordance with pre-determined schedules.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Post-secondary Degree or College Diploma or equivalent experience recommended.
  • Completion of CEBS designation or courses leading to CEBS would be an asset.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to meet competing priorities and multiple deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Must possess strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in French, both written and verbal, would be a valuable asset but is not a requirement of the position.
