Lead Procurement Developer

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a strong Procurement Developer to establish the organizations procurement process needs. The Procurement Developer will create a corporate procurement program, which will establish policies and procedures. The Procurement Developer will determine the effectiveness of the current processes, implement improvements, and coordinate changes within the organization. In addition, the Procurement Developer will manage the day-to-day supply chain operations. This includes: providing support to procurement specialists, collaborating with all department leads to find efficiencies in process, execute the distribution of purchase orders to suppliers, and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure that they are committed to supporting the company’s long-term business needs.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Create, implement, and manage the corporate procurement program, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the creation or modification of relevant QMS procedures, work instructions, and forms.
  • Coordinated buying needs through direct contact with company departments, execute the distribution of purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Monitor orders and follow-up as required ensuring that orders are received on time and as specified.
  • Review orders received and address any irregularities as appropriate. Liaise as required with vendors/suppliers and the department representatives.
  • Improve and streamline purchasing interactions in the ERP.
  • Maintain the organizations approved vendors list, and research potential vendors and new products.
  • Negotiate offers with suppliers to obtain the best price possible without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the drafting and negotiation of corporate agreements with suppliers.
  • Establish corporate pricing/discounts for key vendors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong experience in developing procurement programs, policies, and procedures is required.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of Purchasing experience.
  • Purchasing using SCME, PMAC is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in International Purchasing.
  • Experience with ERP and MRP systems is required.
  • Post-secondary training in Purchasing (SCME, PMAC).
  • Intermediate computer skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and email is required.
