The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Production and Catering Chef to join their team in Edmonton. The Production and Catering Chef will implement an efficient working order within the site and staff, train and develop staff, while creating new recipes, order groceries, cooking a wide variety of foods, developing production timelines, and maintain inventory control in an effective and smooth manner. The successful candidate will work 5 days on and 2 days off rotation, with 10-hour workdays.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Organize all food production for catering.
  • Check orders received for quantity and quality of product.
  • Estimate labour and food costs, stay within budget.
  • Order food and kitchen supplies.
  • Handle cash, reconciliation, and deposits.
  • Create new recipes in conjunction with the Corporate Chef.
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products.
  • Ensure that sanitation standards are maintained.
  • Prepare staff schedule and track time for payroll.
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
  • Assist with staff development and training.
  • Promote good public relations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong experience as a Production Chef.
  • Experience in a management/supervisory role within a commercial kitchen.
  • 5+ years experience in the food service industry; 5+ years of experience in high volume catering.
  • Red Seal Certification is required.
  • Food Safety Certification is required.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is dependent on experience.
