Our well-established Edmonton manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Supply Chain expert to join their team as their Purchasing Manager.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Direct and lead all strategic supply chain related initiatives.
  • Hire, train, mentor and develop staff; conduct performance management and goal setting of all employees within the Purchasing department.
  • Establish targets and objectives for the Purchasing team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all key external suppliers.
  • Set up and maintain vendor records.
  • Assist in strategic planning and provide input for the departmental budget.
  • Responsible for daily inventory levels.
  • Support or adjust the requirements of the master production schedule to meet on time delivery to clients.
  • Monitor and rectify any issues affecting the standard cost structure and stocking inventory quantity values.
  • Determine, initiate and secure cost effective supply agreements for services or components.
  • Establish and implement prudent purchasing strategies and practices.
  • Review and approval of any differences between unit cost shown on the PO and the amount the supplier has invoiced. Approve overages in quantity received more than quantity ordered.
  • Act as the primary representative of the purchasing group, participate in management meetings and contribute to management initiatives aimed at meeting corporate objectives and goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in Supply Chain or Procurement is required.
  • 5+ years’ management experience within Supply Chain, Procurement or Logistics is required.
  • Experience within the Oil and Gas industry; strong product knowledge in 6A Wellhead and Gate Valve equipment is preferred.
  • SCMP Designation or SMT Certificate/Diploma or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Working ability with current computer ERP/MRP software systems; SAP super user is considered an asset.
