Office Manager/Senior Accountant


The Opportunity


Our client is looking for a responsible individual to take the reigns in their Edmonton office. You will work closely with the Owner. You will be responsible for managing the office and any HR issues as well as the accounting. Intercompany accounting skills are also required and there is a preference for any candidates that have experience in property management. A designation is not required but would be an asset.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Perform financial and systems analysis.
  • Prepare personal and corporate income tax returns.
  • Basic bookkeeping if required to complete the files.
  • Prepare year-end closing and all year-end reporting.
  • Assist with budget preparation.
  • Prepare government reporting such as quarterly GST remittance.
  • Assist with annual year end audit.
  • Employee relations, which is inclusive of but not limited to: contracts, hiring and termination, and payroll (post payroll and journal entries), employee benefit package maintenance, and WCB.
  • Approve office purchases and conduct backups.
  • Bank reconciliations on properties accounts.
  • Provide computer technical support when applicable.
  • Contract creation for independent contractors and residential managers.
  • Inter-company billings, reconciliations and transfers.
  • Processing pre-approved automatic payments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant post-secondary degree (i.e. accounting, finance, business administration).
  • Possessing or working towards a professional accounting designation.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with advanced Excel skills.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles and applications in finance support.
  • Experience with a Yardi and QuickBooks systems an asset.
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professional in the performance of duties.
