The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Shipping and Receiving Clerk for their South side operations! The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for the organization of inventory in the storage facility and will process incoming and outgoing shipments in compliance with company standards.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, or utilizes preassembled containers, pads and/or insulates contents, and seals containers appropriately.
  • Attach shipping labels or stencils on cartons to identify shipping information.
  • Prepare monthly shipping reports and inventory counts.
  • Coordinate all shipments between company departments and all internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Maintain an exceptionally organized, accurate, and secure inventory of shipping materials and supplies in storage facility based on 5S principles.
  • Operate the lift truck, crane, or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
  • Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Communicate with Foreign Service centers on inventory fulfillment/PO generation.
  • Work with Supplier Quality Engineers on non-conforming parts.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and compares against documentation provided by field services, QC, etc.
  • Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures incoming/outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Research international customs regulations’ in order to reduce or eliminate the risk of delay or confiscation of shipment.
  • Investigate and identify causes of shipping problems/errors, taking corrective action to prevent future occurrences.
  • Arrange trucking to ship supplies or equipment to local and international destinations.
  • Unpack and examine all incoming shipments.
  • Reject any damages and correspond with shipper to rectify any damages and shortages.
  • Process material transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain a high level of safety focus at all times; use proper PPE as required.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting of 50 lbs+.
  • Experience working in a physically demanding work environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Management.
  • Dangerous Goods Shipper and Instructor Certification.
  • Forklift operating experience; crane operating experience is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail oriented, and precise record keeping abilities.
  • Experience in customs and international shipping regulations are considered an asset.
  • Quality Assurance background is preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Microsoft Office Skills preferred.

  • Hourly rate of pay will commensurate with experience.
