The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team in Yellowknife! Commercial and Institutional construction experience is essential for success in this role.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Maintain data as reference for future estimates.
  • Estimate each project accurately and review estimates.
  • Study and understand the contract documents of each project before and after estimating to determine areas, including provisions of the general or special conditions that may be ambiguous or present problems or result in unforeseen costs.
  • Prepare detailed proposals.
  • Prepares anchor budgets for proposed projects.
  • Complete quantity take-offs.
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor the bid deadlines and resolve issues which affect the deadline.
  • Ensure that bids are completed and delivered to the client on time.
  • Monitor progress through different stages of bid and project completion.
  • Develop and train the estimating team.
  • Maintain and upgrade estimating software as required.
  • Liaise between the project team, client and subcontractors.
  • Build relationships within local industry, client and community to enhance company image, take part in client meetings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Estimating experience within the Commercial and/or Institutional Construction industry.
  • Post-secondary Certification/Degree in Engineering or Construction-related Education (CET/Degree).
