The Opportunity

We are Currently looking for permanent Senior Payroll & benefits Specialist’ to join our client in downtown Calgary. Reporting to the VP Finance & Controller, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will ensure compliance with all applicable compensation legislature and ensure payroll and related processes are met on a timely basis.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Administer payroll on a bi-weekly basis for salaried and hourly employees
  • Respond to employee and department enquiries as they relate to payroll & benefits
  • Administer the company benefits program through a third-party administrator
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization providing reports, recommendations & updates
  • Ensure all payroll and benefit reporting is complete and distributed
  • Analyze payroll to ensure the accurate calculation of hours, benefits, uplifts, bonuses, vacations and deductions
  • Create records of employment and process payments for terminated employees
  • Enter and maintain group insurance benefits information
  • Calculate and monitor corporate savings plan contributions
  • Implement processes and system checks to ensure the accurate processing of payroll
  • Involved in design and development of new processes, and testing prior to release to users

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior payroll role
  • Possess a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certificate or be a Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
  • Expertise in current payroll legislation & employment standards
  • Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
