12-month contract with a Midstream Company in DT Calgary!

The Opportunity

Our client in downtown Calgary is looking for a Supervisor Wholesale Accounting for a 12-month Contract! This role is responsible for the accurate and efficient completion of monthly accounting records as they relate to the Canadian/US Crude area.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Full cycle accounting related to the CDN/US Crude business areas.
  • Build relationships with management in these business areas to provide exceptional service and gain in-depth understanding of the business areas needs
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements;
  • Preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecast;
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to Management as requested;
  • Conduct the monthly cheque exchange process to ensure the accurate and timely payment to suppliers;
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team, coordinating and reviewing their deliverables;
  • Identify and interpret items of financial and operational relevance, and effectively communicate suggested solutions of unusual items to the Manager Wholesale Accounting;
  • Prepare complex general ledger journal entries as needed, and based on monthly, quarterly and annual requirements;
  • Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of various management reports, including monthly reporting requirements and ad-hoc requests;
  • Provide accounting expertise in the continuous improvement of current business processes and in the formulation of new business processes;
  • Research and support the business and tax team around sales tax requirements in Canada and the US;
  • Ensure the accurate and efficient completion of financial requirements (as they relate to the above) based on pre-assigned deadlines and IFRS with minimum supervision;
  • Effectively interact with other individuals at all levels of the Company;
  • Communicate all unusual items on a timely basis;
  • Provide meaningful information to management in order that they may utilize the information to make timely decisions;
  • Provide accounting expertise in the continuous improvement of current business processes and in the formulation of new business processes;
  • Innovative, self-motivated and a well-organized team player;
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines;
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Progressive post-secondary accounting education with a professional accounting designation or close to completion;
  • Five years related work experience;
  • Knowledge of Crude Oil/LPG industry considered an asset;
  • Experienced in the use of relational database systems and proficient with Windows-based applications including spreadsheet, word processing and database software.
