Outside Sales Rep – Cleaning Supplies

Our client is a local, family-owned company that has grown from a supplier of small building contractors into a major national distributor that inventories over 10,000 different items. Clients across Canada are driven to them because of their competitive prices, their product knowledge and their dedication to a new standard of service excellence.

Business Development (Outside Sales)

The Business Development role will work direct with clients throughout Alberta and expanding the client base. This person builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current products needs. The person needs to build on our client’s current customer base, find potential new customers, present product to them, and convert them into long-term clients, and continue to grow business in the future. The majority of your time will be locally traveling to meet clients.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and our company’s leaders.
  • Plan approaches, pitches and events. Work with management to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Connect with current customers and grow our network with them both horizontally and vertically.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Participate in pricing the products.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Track and record activity on accounts through internal systems and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on the market and creative trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to expanding our services, products, and distribution channels.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years proven success, within industrial, chemical, janitorial, equipment background preference will be given.
  • Presentation skills, organization and time-management skills.
  • Previous experience crushing a sales quota
  • Expert at cold calling, generating leads having a strong network, and closing deals
  • Determination, positive attitude, and ability to self-motivate
  • Networking ability to target key decision makers and an ability to engage with prospects and build rapport quickly
  • Organizational and time management skills A degree in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant field is beneficial
