The Opportunity


Sales and Business Development Associate – Analyzer Instrumentation


Our client, a Canadian based provider of process analytical systems and solutions, is looking for a highly motivated and driven sales and business development professional, to expand their presence in the Canadian and North American upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas market segments.


Our client’s objective is to design, engineer and promote the most advanced process analytical solutions to optimize production and increase our customer’s profitability while reducing overall maintenance costs.


The Sales and Business Development Associate will embrace the overall company growth strategy, define and lead our development and commercialization strategy, as well as focus on sales activities within the assigned geographic territory and region. The ideal candidate will have some experience in process analytical sales to the oil and gas industry, and possess exemplary closing skills. This position is designed for those interested in driving business to a higher level of performance.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Plan, implement and control all aspects of the sales cycle for the assigned territory
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with new and existing customers, prospects, key accounts and industry leaders, including travel to and visiting with customers on a continuous basis
  • Prepare technical sales materials and provide high level sales presentations to customers, key accounts and prospective business partners
  • Provide technical, applications support, and facilitate direct sales with customers
  • Direct the planning and preparation of business proposals, and make recommendations to executive management;
  • Provide input and assist with the generation of sales forecasts, marketing and business development plans for the business
  • Generate technical sales and engineered product quotations
  • Assist in the generation of new product development proposals
  • Manage day-to-day marketing programs and activities so they meet the organizations short and long-term business objectives, comply with regulations and standards, and protect the organizations reputation
  • Develop volume, product mix, and market-share objectives – monitors performance against the objectives;

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or scientific field required, or equivalent relevant technical experience
  • Minimum of four years technical selling or direct customer-interactive technical support experience of scientific products.
  • Field experience in the oil and gas industry an asset

Specific Skillset Requirements

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills are a prerequisite
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%+)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to attend, pass and meet relevant customer site specific safety and workplace course requirements for customer site access.
