The Opportunity

Our oil and gas equipment client is seeking an Inventory Controller for their Fort McMurray operation! The Inventory Controller will oversee the inventory levels of businesses, lead a team, monitor deliveries, evaluate new shipments, and analyze different suppliers.
Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Forecast and anticipate future customer demands and company production supply plans, ensure accurate delivery of parts for customer maintenance activities.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand for spares and service.
  • Manage slow moving inventories to minimize exposure to depreciation write-offs.
  • Administer consignment inventories according to company policy and contractual agreements.
  • Train, mentor, and direct customer service staff and ensure results by coaching and leading the team.
  • Manage performance plans and disciplinary actions when required.
  • Maintain effective and frequent communication with customers, sales staff, and order scheduling to ensure local supply meets customer demand.
  • Collaborate in business improvement initiatives to support company goals and objectives.
  • Report on all inventory statistics to General Manager, including: inventory turns, usage, value, slow moving items, and other as necessary.
  • Facilitate the investigation of customer account issues.
  • Ensure order documentation is accurately processed and distributed in a timely and measurable manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Business Administration, or Logistics is required.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, logistic, inventory management role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with all levels of management and production staff.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong background in customer service is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient working knowledge of inventory management software, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
